Carol Taylor “Nubby” Newby Jr., 53, of Marion, NC passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Carol Taylor Newby Sr. and Pauline Balmer Newby. He was employed for many years by Superior Walls, Inc. of Salisbury, NC. He was a loving husband, father and brother. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Tungsten Mine Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Tungsten Mine Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Sam Brewer. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Surviving are his wife, Leigh Ann Wilkins Newby of the home, a daughter, Anna Leigh Newby, stepdaughters, Emily Elizabeth Dunn (Dylan Simpson) and Heather Leanne Dunn; and a step-grandson, Mason Lane Simpson. Also surviving are three sisters, Nancy N Mathews (Dale); Sandra N. Bailey (Ronnie) and Teresa N. Christopher (Michael).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an Educational Fund that has been set up for his daughter, Anna Newby. Contributions to the scholarship fund may be made to Nancy Mathews at 3191 Gela Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
